What is an A-Grade Cell?
An A-Grade Cell refers to a battery cell that meets the highest standards of quality and performance. These cells are rigorously tested and graded based on their capacity, voltage, and overall reliability. How do I use the Bluetooth Monitoring Feature?
To use the Bluetooth Monitoring Feature, first download the EcoWatt Energy Connect app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Then, open the app, connect to your battery, and start monitoring.
My Charger says the battery is fully charged, but the app is not showing 100% charge, why?
Sometimes, the State of Charge (SOC) display on the app may not be fully accurate until the battery has gone through a few full charge and discharge cycles. The BMS needs time to 'learn' the battery’s parameters and adjust accordingly before the Bluetooth monitoring provides precise readings.
What are your Recommended Charger/Shunt Settings?
- Charged voltage: Around 13.5V, but you can double-check this once the battery is fully charged.
- Bulk charging voltage: Between 14.4V to 14.6V
- Absorption voltage: Between 14.4V to 14.6V
- Float voltage: Around 13.5V
- Storage voltage: Similar to the charged voltage; 13.5V
- Discharge floor: It can be set above 20%. This setting is more about your personal preference for the charger than the battery. The higher this percentage, the better. We don't recommend going below 20%.
- Tail current: Anywhere between 2-4% is fine. Once the charging current drops below this range, the battery is nearly fully charged.
- Peukert exponent: This is mostly relevant for lead-acid batteries. For LiFePO4, setting it to 1.05 is standard
- Charge efficiency factor: Set this to 99%
- Current threshold: 0.1A
- Charge detection and Time to go averaging period: These can remain unchanged
- State of charge (SOC) synchronization: We recommend synchronizing the SOC to 100% once you've fully charged the battery
Can I use the EcoStore 300 under the bonnet?
No, it is not recommended to use the EcoStore 300 under the bonnet. We advise against using our LiFePO4 batteries for under bonnet applications due to their lower thermal tolerance compared to other battery types, such as lead-acid or AGM. The engine compartment can reach high temperatures, particularly in demanding conditions or during extended use, which can degrade the battery's performance, lifespan, and safety.
